* Suffolk police are seeking a man who is a suspect in the theft of money from a store in Hauppauge earlier this month.

Surveillance footage shows a man breaking a window with a rock  about 1 a.m. June 11, 2014, and then taking a box containing money at Pearl Vision,  1253 Veterans Memorial Hwy.

The suspect has what appears to be a brown beard and his right arm appears to have a “sleeve” tattoo. He was wearing a white T-shirt, jeans, tan work boots and possibly a blue New York Yankees hat.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

* Suffolk police are asking for help in locating a man suspected in the theft last month of a  cellphone from a Target store in Medford.

About noon on May 25, a surveillance camera shows  a man  taking a Samsung HTC cellphone that a customer had left on the customer service counter.

Through Friday, the Suffolk County Water Authority is flushing water mains on streets in Westhampton and Westhampton Beach within an area that is generally bounded by Old Country Road to Montauk Highway south to the Bay, and Tanners Neck Lane east to Oneck Lane.


Wednesday's forecast calls for overcast skies with a high of 82. Tonight will be overcast with a chance of a thunderstorm and a low of 68. The chance of rain is 50 percent.
