Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano is partnering with the Nassau County Dental Society to offer free oral health screenings to residents before tomorrow's annual Salute to Veterans concert at Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow.

The screenings begin at 5:30 p.m., and the first 200 people receive a free dental health kit, courtesy of Henry Schein Cares.

“Oral cancer is a serious disease with a small survival rate if not discovered and treated early,” Mangano said.

He noted that oral cancer strikes an estimated 34,360 Americans each year and that regular dental checkups, including an examination of the entire mouth, are essential for the early detection of cancerous and precancerous conditions.

Ceremonies start at 6:45 p.m., and the show at 7:30 p.m. Screenings will continue through the show, if necessary, county officials said.
