Glen Cove’s Eva Casale finished her third straight marathon of the week Wednesday night, but this time, she had a companion throughout the entire 26.2-mile course.

Showtime to film 'The Affair' at Lynbrook Westwood LIRR station

A new Showtime series is scheduled to film in Lynbrook on July 26 from 2 to 8 p.m.

The on-location shoot will be at the Lynbrook Westwood LIRR train station, at Whitehall and Webster streets.

The 10-episode series, “The Affair,” is set to air in October, officials said.

There will be 80 production crew members and two cast members present Wednesday.

Roundup: North Hempstead repaves road

The Town of North Hempstead has repaved Grand Boulevard in Westbury.

The town’s highway department filled potholes and layered the road with asphalt on the mile-long thoroughfare. The town is waiting to start a more comprehensive overhaul to be funded by the state.

Westbury trustees discuss invasive species ban

Westbury trustees are considering a law banning village homeowners from planting bamboo or other invasive species on their properties.

The measure was first heard at a public hearing July 3. That hearing was continued until the board’s next meeting Aug. 7.

A code change would ban planting bamboo or other invasive plants on private and public property.

Roundup: Nassau Community College continues firefighter scholarship program

Nassau Community College plans to use $400,000 from its fund reserves to continue a program that provides tuition reimbursement to volunteer county firefighters, officials announced Tuesday.
