The state is helping Babylon and Islip Town residents drive a little more smoothly over area roads.
State Sen. Phil Boyle (R-Bay Shore) has announced that more than $484,000 is being allocated for pothole repairs in Islip and Babylon towns. The money is part of the $40 million that has been designated for pothole repair in the state budget.

Islip’s only microbrewery is getting a larger bar to showcase its frosty beverages.
The Islip Town planning board approved the Great South Bay Brewery’s application for a special permit to operate a larger bar inside its site at 25 Drexel Dr. in Bay Shore.

The Town of Islip’s Industrial Development Agency is giving tax incentives to two businesses that would create 20 new jobs and keep dozens more in the area.

Students from seven high schools in Islip helped donate more than 1,400 pairs of jeans for a national group that aids homeless teens.
The denim will go to the Teens for Jeans program, which has doled out about 3.5 million pairs to those in need around the country in the past seven years.
