The unofficial website of Long Island MacArthur Airport has posted an unusual alert for travelers.
"BREAKING NEWS: MACARTHURAIRPORT.COM OWNERS... Launch Multi-million dollar lawsuit AGAINST TOWN OF ISLIP. SECRET RECORDINGS OF PHIL NOLAN ADMINISTRATION MEETINGS TO BE RELEASED."
The post makes reference to a legal tug-of-war between Black Sheep Television, which operates the unofficial site macarthurairport.com, and Islip Town, which runs Long Island MacArthur Airport's official site, flylima.com.
Last month, an arbitrator ruled that Islip has common-law rights to the macarthurairport.com domain name.
Now, Black Sheep Television is suing in federal court to reverse the decision. The Hampton Bays marketing company is also seeking $1 million in damages, claiming that town officials reneged on a handshake deal to jointly operate the site.
