Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano will be the guest speaker at North Bellmore’s town hall-style meeting Monday night to address issues that concern village residents.
The North Bellmore Civic Association meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the hamlet’s library, 1551 Newbridge Rd., and is expected to last two hours.
The meeting room has a capacity of 150 people. Stu Weinstein, second vice president of the civic association, said he expects to have a standing-room-only turnout.
“I’m hoping that everyone is very excited about this,” Weinstein said. “It’s not every time you get the county executive to come.”
Mangano attended an association meeting once as a candidate for county executive. This will be his first time visiting as the sitting county executive, Weinstein said.
Members of the association are expected to raise questions about the state takeover by the Nassau County Interim Finance Authority, property taxes, the proposed casino near Nassau Coliseum, and police cutbacks and precinct consolidations.
Following Mangano, Arnold Goldstein, the superintendent for the North Bellmore School District, will give an update about the district’s budget and the upcoming elections.
