A pharmaceutical take-back event will be held Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Manhasset High School.

Prescription and over-the-counter medications, samples, pet medicine, vitamins, supplements, inhalers, liquid medication, suppositories and illegal drugs will be accepted anonymously.

Medications should be in original containers, though names should be blocked out for anonymity.

Sharp needles, IV bags, infectious waste, vaccines and radioactive pharmaceuticals will not be accepted. Waste generated by clinics, pharmacies, hospitals and doctor’s offices is also prohibited.

The event is sponsored by the Manhasset Community Coalition Against Substance Abuse, the Town of North Hempstead, Nassau County Police Department and other groups.

For more information call the North Hempstead hotline at 311 from within the town or 516-869-6311 from outside the town.
