The Town of North Hempstead unveiled a refurbished Manorhaven Beach Complex last Saturday.

The nine-month, $18-million project includes a refurbished pool with a new water slide and fountains, resurfaced tennis courts and an entryway to the beach. In addition, a new skate park is being constructed.

The project, spearheaded by Supervisor Jon Kaiman, was an effort to make the complex more family friendly.

The complex also includes a feng shui garden. And the pool now has a zero-depth entry point so swimmers can wade into the water at their own pace.

This is the first renovation for the Port Washington facility, on Manorhaven Boulevard, since it was built in 1963. The complex is open to town residents; a list of the fees is here. The complex will be open from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. throughout the summer.

For more information, call 311 from within the Town of North Hempstead, or 516-869-6311 outside the town.
