The family of a Mastic Beach woman who was killed in a motorcycle crash on May 24, 2010, will dedicate a bench in her honor Tuesday night at Smith Point County Park in Shirley.

Lauren Parris, 19, was riding on a motorcycle driven by her fiance, Matthew Byank, 20, of Manorville when it crashed into a utility pole on Montauk Highway in Amagansett.

Parris, who was pregnant, later died at Southampton Hospital.

Byank is awaiting trial on charges including manslaughter.

Smith Point was Parris’ favorite place to relax and walk her dog, said her father, Dan Parris of Mastic Beach. A bench with a plaque will be dedicated at a ceremony between 6 and 8 p.m., he said.

Dan Parris said the spot, near the park’s pavilion, will be a place where he, his wife, Patricia, and their daughter Danielle, 18, can go to remember Lauren.

“This is something that is going to be there forever,” he said.
