Chocolate Lady is both a nickname and a storefront for Oyster Bay’s Lee Perrotta, who opened her business downtown in October 2008.
Perrotta, who trained as both a fine artist and a pastry chef, has combined the two by developing a process in which she creates chocolate paintings, with everything -- even the canvas --being edible.
Much of her inspiration comes from a great aunt, who brought chocolate recipes to America from Italy in 1917 and sold chocolate products out of her home. The recipes offer a unique mix of ingredients giving a flavor of chocolate with the scent of roses or other flowers.
