Meet-the-candidates nights scheduled in Hempstead Village

Three “Meet the Candidates Night” will take place this week in Hempstead Village before the March 19 election, which features candidates running for mayor, two trustee seats and village court justice.

The Hempstead NAACP, the Hempstead Coordination Council of Civics and the League of Women Voters will host a trustee candidates night Wednesday at 7 in A.B.G.S. Middle School, 70 Greenwich St., and a mayoral forum Friday at 7 p.m. in Kennedy Park, 270 Greenwich St.

The Hempstead Chamber of Commerce will host a mayoral candidate’s forum on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the African American Museum, 110 N. Franklin St.

The seven candidates for mayor include incumbent, Wayne J. Hall Sr., trustee Perry M. Pettus, deputy mayor Henry Conyers, former Mayor James A. Garner, former village justice Lance D. Clarke, Theresa A. Drye and Warren Stith Jr.

The 10 trustee candidates include trustee Livio Rosario, Luis Figueroa, Waylyn Hobbs Jr., Iris D. Atkinson-Kirkland, George Knight, Sally A. Thompson, Kenneth Arroyo Roldan, Tia Morris, Guillermo Calle and Vernadette Horne.
