Farmingdale State College held a memorial Tuesday to honor Dominick Murray, the 17-year-old student who died suddenly during an informal basketball game at the college a year ago.

Dr. Sean Levchuck, chairman of pediatric cardiology at St. Francis Hospital, The Heart Center, gave a discussion on the work he is doing with Dominic’s mother, Melinda Murray, to help prevent sudden cardiac arrest deaths through the Dominic A. Murray 21 Foundation.

The foundation was created by Melinda Murray earlier this year.

Additionally, Levchuck and St. Francis plan to offer free cardiac screenings and CPR training courses to educate student athletes.
