The Moriches Chamber of Commerce’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is set for Sunday, March 13, at 2 p.m. along Main Street in Center Moriches. The parade will feature Irish pipe bands, local fire departments, dance troops and school bands.

However, the festivities will officially kick off with the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Cocktail Party on March 4 at Rock Hill Country Club in Manorville. The event, from 7-9 p.m., will include authentic Irish food, music and an open bar. Tickets are $60 per person. For more information, call 631-874-3849.

This year’s grand marshal is longtime resident, former business owner and community activist Miriam Gillies. Gillies has spearheaded a number of causes over the years, including the Center Moriches Relay for Life. Now celebrating its 10th year, the event raises funds to benefit the American Cancer Society.

Parade chairman Arthur Gerhauser said Gillies was selected for her many years of service to the Moriches Bay area. “She is a tireless worker for the people of the community. If anyone is in need of help, she is there to help them.”
