Most referendums supported by voters in fire districts

Nearly all referendums passed in Tuesday's fire districts elections, where voters had to decide on a range of items, from renovations to retirement eligibility.

In Halesite, voters approved a referendum to provide for new equipment, renovations of the firehouse kitchen area and repaving the parking lot.

Hicksville voters approved a referendum for permission to sell a 1996 fire truck.

In East Moriches, voters rejected a referendum seeking to make the office of fire district treasurer an appointment instead of an elected position.

North Merrick voters approved a referendum for the district to purchase two defibrillators.

Bellport voters approved a referendum to approve a new employee benefits reserve fund.

In Ridge, voters approved a referendum extending the retirement eligibility for firefighters.
