The Town of North Hempstead’s Project Independence is launching a series of health chats for residents 60 and older.
The first chat will be about protecting assets.
Ann Margaret Carrozza, an elder-law specialist and former state assemblywoman, will lead the 11 a.m. talk Thursday at the Port Washington Senior Citizens Center, 80 Manorhaven Blvd.
Medicaid eligibility, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care proxies and other issues will be discussed.
Project Independence is a town program designed to help residents age in place by providing access to transportation, health screenings, financial assistance, social activities and caregiver support.
For more information, residents can call 311 from within the town or 516-869-6311 from outside town boundaries.
