Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano announced Thursday he will host a free Disaster Preparedness Seminar for Nassau businesses from 6 to 8 p.m. on June 12 at the Office of Emergency Management in Bethpage.
“Hurricane Sandy damaged and destroyed many Nassau County businesses,” Mangano said in a statement. “My administration, with our Industrial Development Agency, is working with local businesses to help them recover.”
With hurricane season beginning Saturday, Mangano said, “it’s important to study the lessons learned .?.?. and put them to work so that businesses can be prepared should Mother Nature strike again.”
The seminar will feature a panel of experts discussing such topics as business continuity issues, insurance issues, document management, government resources available for assistance, and how to plan for and manage your business in an emergency.

* Craig Craft, commissioner, Nassau County Office of Emergency Management.
* Bob Stark, president, Long Island Commercial Network, a commercial real estate brokerage group.
* Walter Reid, business adviser with the New York Small Business Development Center.
* Anthony Ciuffo, Long Island director of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
* Ashley E. Smith, FEMA assistant external affairs officer for the private sector.
* Greg Serio, managing director, Park Strategies, and former state superintendent of insurance.
* Julie Marchesella, president, Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce.
* Walter Oden II, Long Island branch manager, U.S. Small Business Administration.
Each participant gets a packet of educational materials.
