Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano has announced a new hotline to help people that require “muck outs.”
AmeriCorps and the Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster — a coalition of the major national voluntary organizations in the United States that have made disaster-related work a priority — have volunteered to help residents with “muck outs.” The term refers to the removal of waterlogged material from a home, mold removal and moldicide application.
For more information, residents can call the United Way at 211.
AmeriCorps is a federal government program. Its work ranges from public education to environmental cleanup.
