Representatives from the state comptroller’s office will be at Hofstra University today to offer a three-hour training seminar to help town officials navigate the new property tax cap law. Town supervisors had to submit their proposed budgets by Sept. 30.
Budgets must be finalized and approved by town boards by Nov. 20.
“My office is committed to providing localities with quality training to ensure they are equipped to implement the new Property Tax Cap law,” state Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli said in a news release. “Local officials have lots of questions on this new law and this is another way we can get them the answers they need to formulate their budgets.”
The training will include an overview of the law, as well as directions on how to fill out the online forms local governments will use to report their tax cap calculations.
