Oyster Bay seeks supplies for soldiers

The Town of Oyster Bay is gathering supplies for the men and women serving overseas.

The Soldier Collection Drive is accepting donations at Town Hall North in Oyster Bay, the Department of Public Works in Syosset, Town Hall South in Massapequa and the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center at Bethpage Community Park. The drive ends Feb. 28.

“Your help will go a long way to support our dedicated military personnel,” Town Councilman Anthony Macagnone said in a news release. “I believe it is critical that we do our part to boost the morale of our soldiers. This program serves as an important reminder that the daily sacrifices made by our uniformed service personnel are not taken for granted.”

Items needed include: antibiotic and cortisone ointments, white socks, Visine, athletic T-shirts (black or brown only), antacid tablets, phone cards, over-the-counter pain relievers, adhesive bandages, peanut butter, deodorant, cereal, microwaveable pastas and soups, razors, protein shakes, mouthwash, tuna fish (premixed packs), lip balm, nuts, body wash, cans of chips and dips, flea and tick collars, baby wipes, lollipops, hard candy and mints.
