Gov. David A. Paterson was in Hempstead Saturday at the village's Outdoor Holiday Extravaganza, where the Hempstead Board of Education honored the former village resident by renaming Fulton Elementary School for him.
The ceremony honoring Paterson took place at Denton Green Park, across from Hempstead Village Hall, during the holiday celebration.
The name change will take effect next September.
