Can't you hear "I ruff you" already?

The Brookhaven Town Animal Shelter & Adoption Center will waive its usual adoption fee in honor of Free Love Weekend on Feb. 12 and 13. The shelter will be open Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday from noon-4 p.m.

There will be live music, giveaways, gifts for pets and refreshments during the event, according to shelter director Dori Scofield. She said the shelter found homes for about 100 pets at its last free adoption event in December and is hopeful that the upcoming promotion will have a bigger turnout.

"I have a lot of pit bulls looking for homes right now," she said.

The shelter, at 300 Horseblock Rd., recently expanded its weekend hours to include Sundays.
