The Town of Babylon has narrowed down the list of potential master developers for its Wyandanch Rising downtown redevelopment project to three companies.
Wyandanch Rising will include transit-oriented development around the Long Island Rail Road station and a variety of housing types, commercial properties and public green spaces.
In March the town issued a Request for Qualifications in an attempt to find the most qualified potential developers. Fifteen companies responded and three were selected, according to town spokesman Tim Ruggeri.
The companies that have been asked to take the next step — submitting a proposal — are Jonathan Rose Companies of Manhattan; Albanese Organization, Inc. of Garden City; Douglaston Development of Douglaston.
Ruggeri said the town will assess the proposals for, among other things, the financial feasibility of the proposal, the financial capacity to pursue a project of this size and complexity, and relevant experience and personnel. Ruggeri said the town hopes to select a master developer in June.
