Public hearings on bond issues slated

Five public hearings are scheduled as part of Oyster Bay’s town board meeting Tuesday morning.

The board is to take public comment on the proposed issuance of:

$1.3 million in serial bonds to finance improvements to the solid waste district such as the replacement of wells and pumps, as necessary, and the preparation of requests for proposals on use of a landfill for a solar project.

$4.2 million in serial bonds toward park district improvements including upgrades to athletic fields, fencing, sidewalks and other features.

$430,000 in serial bonds for public lighting district improvements, such as the upgrading of the underground streetlight wiring system.

Public hearings are also set on proposed one-year contracts with seven fire protection companies and the one-year rental of 223 fire hydrants from the Oyster Bay Water District for $20,070.

The meeting starts at 10 a.m.
