Rained-out F.D. Santas set for Syosset

The volunteer firefighters of the Syosset Fire Department will be spreading some cheer this holiday season, but you won’t see them in their usual firefighting gear.

Starting at 10 a.m. Sunday, they will be traveling around town in bright red suits, shiny black boots and white beards. The Syosset Santas plan to ride through town in decorated fire trucks with goodies in tow to make up for last Sunday's rainout.

The SFD’s Santa Claus tour is a decades-long tradition. Sunday's weather forecast in Syosset calls for cloudy skies and a high of 36, but no precipitation.

“We are able to greet so many people and celebrate the holidays as a community," said Syosset Fire Department Chief John Capobianco. "We truly look forward to this event every year.”
