In an effort to capture local residents’ memories of Sept. 11, 2001 and the aftermath, the Riverhead Free Library has started making videos of residents talking about their experiences.
“It’s not just for people who were there [at the World Trade Center],” said library director Lisa Jacobs.
Videotaping is scheduled for Wednesday (July 20), from 2 to 4 p.m., and Thursday (July 21), from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. Several additional tapings will be scheduled next month. Residents are invited to stop in and talk about what they did on that day and the days that followed.
Jacobs said the library plans to put a link to the oral histories on its website, and is considering putting the recordings on disc as well.
