Northport and Asharoken villages now share an assessor.

Asharoken’s board of trustees voted to appoint Roger Ramme as the village’s assessor, making $100 per hour, until July. Ramme also will defend grievance applications and Small Claims Assessment Review proceedings at a rate of $200 per hour, according to village documents.

The position became vacant last July and was temporarily filled by village clerk Nancy Rittenhouse. She was appointed to the position at the end of January and resigned on Feb. 5, before the board voted to hire Ramme.

Ramme is also a special counsel for Huntington Bay and East Hampton Town, according to village documents.
