A decrepit Ronkonkoma home that partially collapsed in mid-July, becoming even more of an eyesore, has been demolished by the Town of Islip.

“The house was removed,” said Islip Department of Planning and Development Commissioner Dave Genaway
Longtime neighbor Barbara Meyers said the home in recent months had no power or water, and had become filled with trash. There was a large hole in the roof that let in rain and snow, she said.
Neighbors said they alerted town officials about the condition of the property but were told there was little they could do without the owner’s consent.
The partial collapse of the home on July 12 allowed the town to take nuisance abatement action.
