Members of the Roosevelt community gathered Saturday at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church on Jackson Avenue to plant bulbs and explore the not-so-well-known nature preserve at the end of the street.

The day was a part of the “A Walk Through the Woods” program organized by the North Shore Land Alliance, an Old Westbury-based land trust dedicated to protecting parks on the North Shore. The program is designed to educate community members about the various nature preserves on the North Shore as well as in other areas.
