Smithtown having 'Safe Summer Night'

Basketball, bocce and karaoke are among the activities available for youths Monday at Hoyt Farm Park in Commack.

The Town of Smithtown’s second annual “Safe Summer Night” program will kick off at 6 p.m. with games and arts and crafts for middle school and high school students. Admission is free.

The program, which will last until 9 p.m., is sponsored by the Smithtown Youth Bureau. It also will offer volleyball and horseshoes. Nonperishable food will be collected at the site and donated to Long Island Cares.

Safe Summer Nights are also scheduled for July 25 and Aug. 8.

Volunteers are needed to help run the activities. High school students who volunteer may be able to receive community service credit. For more information, call 631-360-7595 or email phirschhorn@tosgov.com.
