Layoff Action.
The Nassau County Legislature meets at 1 p.m. Monday in  the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building, 1550 Franklin Ave.,  to vote on a bill authorizing 435 layoffs, 217 demotions and the eliminations of funding for 183 vacant jobs. Union leaders and the county on Saturday reached a framework to avoid layoffs. If a deal is reached after the vote, the dismissals can be rescinded. Trustees meet.

Special session.
