A student film festival Friday night at Kings Park High School will screen movies with anti-drug themes.

Students were asked to make short movies — such as commercials, music videos and educational films — with the theme “Destructive Decisions.” The film fest is sponsored by Kings Park in the kNOw, a community group that discourages drug abuse.

All movies submitted by students will be screened at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium, said Jamie Bula, an art teacher at the school. Prizes will be awarded in categories such as cinematography, message and overall quality, she said.

Sign-in starts at 6:30 p.m. The competition is open to students in grades 9 to 12.

The public is invited to attend, Bula said. Admission is free.
