A cell phone company that had planned to put an antenna on top of a Lindenhurst Village business has withdrawn the application.
In 2010, T-Mobile Northeast submitted an application to the village to place a public utility communication facility at 430 W. Montauk Highway. The site is the home of Suffolk Lock & Security Professionals Inc.
The matter came before the planning board on May 20, said village Administrator Clerk-Treasurer Shawn Cullinane, and faced public opposition due to the planned antenna’s proximity to residences.
The planning board also took issue with the antenna’s height, property egress and equipment to be placed at the site, Cullinane said. As a result, he said, last month the board recommended that the Village Board deny the application.
The Village Board had planned a hearing on the matter next month, but the company has since withdrawn the application.
Cullinane said the company can reapply in the future.
