Tax notice plan assists N. Hempstead seniors

The Town of North Hempstead tax department has launched a program to ensure property tax bills for residents age 65 and older don’t get overlooked.

Under the Third Party Notification program, residents can designate a family member or friend to receive copies of their tax bill when a late notice has been issued.

“Third party notification can give peace of mind to seniors who may spend time away from home or who may need assistance with their personal finances,” Receiver of Taxes Charles Berman said.

Applications are available online at, or by phoning the town’s call center, at 311 within the town or 516-869-6311 outside town boundaries.
