Jim Morgo, Brookhaven Town’s economic development coordinator since early 2010, has resigned to focus on his consulting business.

Morgo, 67, has helped the town with projects including the Ronkonkoma Hub transit-oriented development and Carmans River Watershed Protection & Management Plan. He is president of Morgo Private Public Strategies, a consulting firm.

“When I came on, I said it wasn’t going to be a long time,” said Morgo, who resigned this month. “The town is in good hands.”

Morgo has worked as Suffolk County's chief deputy county executive under outgoing County Executive Steve Levy. He served as a Democratic Suffolk County legislator from 1983 to 1985, representing the 8th District, including Bayport, Sayville, Ronkonkoma, Holbrook and Bohemia, before deciding not to seek re-election.
