As part of our continuing effort to highlight the important places of each community on Long Island, we took a tour of Holbrook. We welcome your contributions.

Holbrook is a landlocked community in central Long Island. Parts of Holbrook are in both the towns of Brookhaven and Islip.

The community has about 27,000 residents and is part of the Sachem School District, one of the largest in New York State. Four of the district’s 12 elementary schools are in Holbrook, as is the Sachem Public Library.

Holbrook is serviced by the Holbrook Volunteer Fire Department, which was established in 1927 and has three stations in the community.
