Dog licensing has popped up on two town board agendas for this week as New York State ends its dog tagging program and passes the responsibility over to individual municipalities in 2011.
Public hearings on the subject are scheduled in Oyster Bay and Southold, and other towns, including Southampton and East Hampton, have already passed resolutions.
Separately, the Village of Rockville Centre is taking up a resolution tonight at its board of trustees meeting to relinquish dog licensing to the Town of Hempstead.
