There are holiday tree and menorah lightings all over Long Island. Some already have taken place. More are to come.

Here is a list of some upcoming events sponsored by Long Island towns and villages. Many events include entertainment, refreshments and/or an appearance by Santa; contact the municipality for more details. (Events sponsored by fire departments, chambers of commerce, churches, hospitals, etc., are too numerous to include in this listing.)

FRIDAY
North Hempstead Town: town tree lighting at Mary Jane Davies Green, Manhasset, 4:15-5:45 p.m.
Babylon Town: annual holiday tree lighting at Town Hall in Lindenhurst, 6 p.m.
Farmingdale Village: tree lighting on the village green, 6 p.m.
Brookhaven Town: tree lighting at Town Hall, Farmingville, 6 p.m.
Islip Town: holiday tree lighting at Town Hall, 7 p.m.

SATURDAY
Amityville Village: annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the triangle on Broadway, 5 p.m.
Mastic Beach Village: holiday tree lighting at the gazebo on Neighborhood Road, 6 to 9 p.m.

SUNDAY
Lindenhurst Village: tree lighting ceremony at intersection at Hoffman and Wellwood avenues; festivities begin at 4 p.m. with the tree lighting to follow.
Babylon Village: tree lighting ceremony in Argyle Park, 4 p.m.
North Hempstead Town: tree lighting ceremony at Blumenfeld Family Park, Port Washington, 4:30-6 p.m.
Sea Cliff Village: tree lighting on the village green, 4:30 p.m.
Smithtown Town: tree lighting at the main library branch, 1 North Country Rd., at 4:30 p.m.

TUESDAY, DEC. 6
Hempstead Town: annual lighting of the Christmas tree, Hanukkah menorah and Kwanzaa Kinara in Town Hall Plaza, 4 p.m.

SATURDAY, DEC. 10
Freeport Village: annual village tree lighting ceremony near the triangle on Sunrise Highway, between Church and Main streets, 5 p.m. Festivities continue afterward at other locations.

SUNDAY, DEC. 11
Cedarhurst Village: lighting of the Christmas tree in Andrew J. Parise Park, festivities begin at 4 p.m. with the tree lighting to follow.

TUESDAY, DEC. 13
Long Beach: lighting of the Christmas Tree at the annual Kennedy Plaza Holiday Festivities, 5:30 p.m.

FRIDAY, DEC. 16
Hempstead Town: 10th Annual Kwanzaa Celebration at the Nathan L. H. Bennett Pavilion next to Town Hall, 3:30 p.m.

TUESDAY, DEC. 20
Long Beach: lighting of the menorah at the annual Kennedy Plaza Holiday Festivities, 5:30 p.m.
Cedarhurst Village: lighting of the Hanukkah menorah for the eight nights of the holiday, beginning Dec. 20. Menorah will be lit each day at 6 p.m., except for Friday, Dec. 23 at 3 p.m. and Sunday Dec. 25 at 5 p.m.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 21
Huntington Town: menorah lighting ceremony at Town Hall, 6 p.m.
