On the first night of Hanukkah, Rabbi Mendy Goldberg, of Lubavitch of the East End, led a menorah-lighting celebration at the Brookhaven Town Hall for about 200 people.

Town Supervisor Mark Lesko and Deputy Supervisor Kathleen Walsh helped light the Shamash, the center candle of the menorah, which  is used to light all the other candles.  Children from the synagogue's Hebrew school helped light the first candle.

The celebration lasted about two hours and included holiday music, a magic show, a Hanukkah trivia game led by the Hebrew school students and seemingly never-ending latkes and other snacks.

More video to come.
