Wantagh kids think of others for holidays

Students from the Wantagh High School Junior Chamber

Students from the Wantagh High School Junior Chamber of Commerce succeeded with their holiday coat drive.

Students in Wantagh got into the holiday spirit this year with a series of donations for families in need.

Wantagh Elementary School students participated in their annual “Coats for Kids” project. Students and their families donated more than 100 gently used and new coats for children and adults.

Wantagh High’s Junior Chamber of Commerce also held a coat drive for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Long Island. They collected more than 75 gently used and new winter jackets from peers and local businesses.

Wantagh High School Student Government and Physical Education Leaders held a toy drive for the John Theissen Children’s Foundation, which works to support children in hospitals who are suffering from various illnesses.

More than 50 games, puzzles and books were collected.
