Nassau County police officers and local community leaders will be making a donation towards the operation and treatment of Miss Harper, a 7-month-old pit bull found with its ears and hind leg cut off, during a 2 p.m. press conference today. They will also discuss the investigation.


TEMPS TO RISE. Overcast in the morning, then mostly cloudy. High of 36 degrees with a wind chill as low as 21 degrees. Friday night, overcast with a low of 28 degrees. Saturday will warm up to a high of 41 degrees and low of 39 degrees. There's a 30 percent chance of rain into the night.


SAYVILLE. Accident on Sunrise Highway westbound at Johnson Avenue (Exit 50).

BOHEMIA. Accident on Lakeland Avenue northbound/southbound at Highway 27.

WEST ISLIP. Bridge maintenance on Robert Moses Causeway northbound at Ocean Parkway.

BRENTWOOD. Road construction reducing roadway to one lane on Sagtikos Parkway northerbound between the Southern State Parkway and the Northern State Parkway.

HAMPTON BAYS. Construction work on Montauk Highway eastbound between Old Country Road and Ponquogue Avenue.

SEAFORD. Road construction closing the right lane of the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway northbound between Route 105 and Hempstead Turnpike.

NASSAU. Slow-moving maintenance vehicle. Right lane closed on Meadowbrook Parkway southbound between the Northern State Parkway and Southern State.


HEMPSTEAD TOWN. CONDO COMPLEX. The Hempstead Town Board will hold a hearing Tuesday on a petition from BK AT SEAFORD LLC, a subsidiary of The Engel Burman Group, for rezoning the 5.67-acre former Seaford Avenue School property to allow the construction of 112 condominium units for residents 55 and older. The meeting starts at 10:30 a.m. in the Nathan L.H. Bennett Pavilion, adjacent to Hempstead Town Hall. Follow Aisha Al-Muslim's Twitter updates @AishaAlMuslim.

KINGS PARK. SCHOOL BUDGET. The Kings Park Board of Education will hold its first school budget workshop of the year Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Kings Park High School, 200 Route 25A. Check for Lauren R. Harrison's updates.
