Come on down and celebrate something that’s not happening.

Hempstead officials, including Supervisor Kate Murray, are holding a news conference Monday to perform a happy dance after a controversial plan to add a third track on the Long Island Rail Road was not included in the MTA’s 2010-2014 capital plan, which was approved last week.

The project, which would have added another track on the main line corridor between Bellerose and Hicksville, was not included in the original proposal, so there was no way it would get the green light. But officials want to show their jubilation anyway.

The event will be held at 11 a.m. at the Floral Park LIRR station.
