A westbound Long Island Rail Road train hit a person on the tracks Thursday at about 11:20 a.m., delaying trains heading into Penn Station, the authority said.

The identity and condition of the person who was hit were not available, LIRR spokesman Sam Zambuto said.

The train was delayed at the scene as Metropolitan Transportation Authority police investigated, Zambuto said.

There is express service from Jamaica to New York, but no westbound trains are stopping at Kew Gardens, Forest Hills and Woodside, the Long Island Rail Road said in an e-mail alert. NYC Transit honored LIRR fares.
