Service has been restored in both directions between Montauk and East Hampton, having been suspended earlier after an oversize truck hit a Long Island Rail Road bridge, the railroad said in a tweet at 1:10 p.m.
Good service was also reported for the Montauk branch on MTA.info.
Service had been suspended earlier between Montauk and Speonk after the truck hit the bridge on North Main Street near the East Hampton station about 3:15 a.m., the railroad said.
Bus service was provided in both directions between East Hampton and Montauk, LIRR spokesman Aaron Donovan said.
The suspension comes after the LIRR endured a week of delays that began last Monday after a NJ Transit train derailed in Penn Station, and ended midday last Friday when Amtrak finally finished repairs to a section of deteriorated track.
