The Long Island Rail Road is adding 13 eastbound trains to its afternoon schedule on Christmas Eve.

The additional service from Penn Station, between 12:46 p.m. and 3:48 p.m., is being provided on the Babylon, Port Jefferson, Ronkonkoma and Far Rockaway branches, the LIRR said in a notice to customers on its website.

The trains are being added "to accommodate the large number of customers leaving work early to begin their Christmas holiday," the LIRR said.
