MTA: LIRR westbound service between Jamaica and Penn restored

LIRR westbound service has been restored between Jamaica and Penn Station and Woodside and Penn Station, after being suspended earlier because of a broken rail outside the East River tunnels, the MTA said Tuesday evening.

Customers on eastbound trains had been warned to expect cancellations and delays, the MTA said. Some eastbound rush-hour trains, including on the Babylon, Ronkonkoma, Port Jefferson and Port Washington branches, were canceled.

New York City Transit continues to honor LIRR fares on the E at Jamaica, the 7 at Woodside, the 2 and 3 subway lines at Penn, the MTA said.
