Riverhead Town police and State Police are investigating a crash that caused serious injuries and closed County Road 105 in both directions during Friday’s morning commute.

Riverhead Police said they received a number of 911 calls about 8:35 a.m., all reporting a two-vehicle crash on County Road 105 near Indian Island County Park.

A 2015 Cadillac sedan and a 2015 Chevrolet van collided head-on in the county road’s northbound lane when the Cadillac, heading south, crossed the double yellow lines, police said.

The Cadillac struck the guard rail and then the Chevrolet. The drivers of both vehicles were extracted by the RTVAC and the Riverhead Fire Department, police said.

The Cadillac’s driver, Reynel Bullock, 24, of Riverhead, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

Shawn Downs, 48, of Hauppague, was pulled from the Chevrolet and taken to Stony Brook in an ambulance, also with non-life-threatening injuries.
