Wanted: Attempted bank robbery; theft at store

Crime Stoppers and the Nassau County Police Department Robbery Squad are looking for a man wanted in connection with an attempted robbery at a bank in Valley Stream.

According to police, at 11:45 a.m. on Dec. 28, the suspect entered the Dime Savings Bank at 175 West Merrick Rd. and approached a teller with a robbery demand note. The man fled without any money.

The suspect is described as being about 30 years old, and between 5-foot-10 and 6-feet with a stocky build. He was wearing a dark-colored jacket with large orange and white stripes, a black hoodie, a black Baltimore Orioles baseball cap, and blue jeans.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are looking for a man wanted in connection with the theft of property from a South Setauket store.

According to police at 10:24 a.m. on July 14, a man entered The Home Depot at 255 Pond Path, and took a jackhammer valued at more than $2,000 from the tool rental department. The suspect is described as being between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10 and 25 to 35 years old. He fled in what appeared to be a late 1990s, green Chevrolet SUV.
