Wanted: Class ring owner; credit card scam

Are you missing your Cornell University class ring? If so, Nassau police want to return it to you.

Police said the Eighth Squad recovered the ring during an investigation in Levittown, and are looking for the owner.

The ring is believed to be a female's 1979 bachelor of science degree graduation ring from Cornell University. There are initials inscribed along the inside of the ring.

Anyone with information that can lead investigators to the owner is asked to contact the Eight Squad at 516-573-6854. Please forward the information to Det. Kerstiens.

Crime Stoppers also asks anyone who can identify the object or might have information about it to call the confidential hotline at 800-244-8477.Are you missing your Cornell University class ring? If so, Nassau police want to return it to you.

The New York State Police and Suffolk County Crime Stoppers are looking for two women who allegedly used stolen credit card information to buy $1,700 worth of merchandise.

Police said that on Jan. 29, the two women used credit card numbers that did not belong to them to buy mostly cigarettes at gas stations and convenience stores in the Deer Park, Commack and East Northport area.
