Wanted: Murder suspect; gas station robber

Nassau police and its Crime Stoppers department are looking for at least one suspect in a Hempstead murder.

Police say that Jose Ramos Vallejo was found dead at 1 a.m. on Sept 8 at Kennedy Park on Greenwich Street in Hempstead. Officials say that he suffered head and neck trauma that led to his death.

Suffolk police and its Crime Stoppers department are looking for a man who robbed a Coram gas station at gunpoint.

Police say that at 6 p.m. on Aug. 25, the suspect walked into Gascon gas station at 443 Middle Country Rd. and brandished a black handgun as he walked behind the counter and demanded cash. The clerk complied. The suspect then took the clerk's cellphone and left the store.

He is described as being in his mid-20s, about 5-foot-9, and 190 pounds with a goatee. He was wearing a gray-hooded Adidas sweatshirt, black jeans and boots.
