Wanted: Purse snatching; grand larceny

Nassau police and its Crime Stoppers department are looking for a suspect believed to be involved with a purse snatching in Westbury.

Police say that at about 6:43 p.m. on Sept. 14, a woman's handbag containing money and credit cards was stolen while the victim was in the checkout line at the Century 21 clothing store at 1085 Old Country Rd.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at its toll-free and confidential hotline: 800-244-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers offers up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Suffolk police and its Crime Stoppers department are looking for a man and a woman who allegedly smashed a windshield and grabbed a pocketbook outside a Chuck E. Cheese arcade and restaurant in Patchogue.

Police say that at about 6:15 p.m. Sept. 26, the two suspects, in the company of a toddler girl, pulled into the parking lot of the Chuck E. Cheese on the Sunrise Highway service road. The woman smashed the window and grabbed the pocketbook from the passenger side of a Jeep Cherokee in the presence of the man.

The suspects and toddler then went into Chuck E. Cheese for about 90 minutes.

Police say that a debit card from the stolen purse was later used to buy gas at a Hess station on Portion Road in Lake Ronkonkoma.

Police say the suspects were in a black or dark-colored 1998 or 1999 four-door Nissan Maxima sedan with shiny rims, a rear spoiler and gold New York plates.
